A little history:
The use of wreaths to celebrate & decorate goes back to ancient Persian and Greek cultures. Wreaths then were called Diadems from the Greek word diadema meaning a thing bound around. A diadem was a band of fabric worn around the brow of a royal bonnet symbolizing royalty. Wreaths made of varous leaves were also used as prizes during the Greek Olympics. Each host city would award head garlands made with material from local trees along with olive or laurel leaves. This originated the olive leaf as a peace symbol and the phrase,"to earn your laurels." Diadem head wreaths were soon worn by the upper classes in other countries. Precious jewels and metals were added to associate with royalty during the 15 century. As time went by all classes began wearing wreaths. It is unclear how they got to be a wall ornament, perhaps someone did not want to get rid of the headress and hung it on the wall.
No longer do we see wreaths limited to the front door. Dried flowers, fruits and berrys can accent any decor with their deep shades of color as well as pastels. Herbal wreaths for the kitchen can be made up and even picked according to your cooking needs. I like to use everything live, but sometimes this is not possible, fruit for example will not last inside. However, I do make these as well. When berrys are used for texture, artificial is used.
Hello, my name Martha. I have been making custom wreaths for over 40 years and this has been my business for over twenty. I can create anything from Contemporary to Victorian. I am also an avid gardener. Most of my flowers and greens come right from my gardens and are then picked and dried in my barn. I have a love for all the materials I grow, each wreath gives me heartfelt joy. Although the design and color will be the same and similar as shown for each design, please note just as no two blossoms are the same, neither are my wreaths. Slight variations are normal....as with all of us. I am more than happy to go over any specific questions you might have, please feel free to call or write. To order any one of my wreaths please call or email with your contact info and let me know a good time to get back to you. I will call / write you back promptly at which time we can go over the details. Upon ordering, each wreath will be created, properly packed and shipped within ___days. You will not be disappointed.
I accept money orders / bank checks and personal checks (with D.L. and phone # please) as payment.
Thank you. Most sincerely, Martha
